Sanitation
and epidemiological conclusion for schungite from Zazhoginskoe deposit
Extract from : «SCHUNGITE POWDER. Technical specifications. TU 2169-001-57753937-2002»
1.1 Schungite powder
should comply with the given Technical specifications, and to be manufactured under
processing requirements approved in accordance with the established procedure.
1.2 Schungite powder is
produced with the following size of particles:
up to 0.10 micron, from 0.10 to 0.20 micron, from
0.20 to 60 micron
Particle-size distribution of powder supplied
to a consumer, is specified by a contract.
1.3 Physical and chemical parameters of schungite powder should correspond to normative values, represented in the Table 1.

1.3.1. Depending on application of schungite
powder, additional parameters that define performance characteristics of ready
products can be introduced.
2.1 Schungite powder is explosion-safe, non-inflammable, causes
no skin irritation in case of contact.
2.2 Maximum
allowable concentration of powder in the atmosphere of working area – 2.0 mg/m3.
2.3 There
is dust in the air at processing, packing and handling of schungite
powder. Personal involved in such operations should wear working clothes
according to the state standard GOST 12.4.016, and respirators according to
GOST 12.4.041.
2.4 Enclosed
premises used for operations with schungite powder should
be equipped with ventilation system ensuring that dust content in the air would
not exceed maximum allowable concentration.
2.5 Schungite powder is not toxic and does not provide harmful
influence onto environment.
2.6 Schungite powder is a substance with low radioactivity,
which enables to use it in all types of industrial products (NRS 99, norms of
radiation standards).
